The use of snowshoes is dependent on the chosen route. In Heiligenblut, there are eight clearly marked winter hiking paths with detailed descriptions. Snowshoes mostly come into play when we venture deeper into the Hohe Tauern National Park – the largest winter hiking territory in the Eastern Alps. Adventurers, explorers and recreational hikers are all equally catered for.

Walk, rest, enjoy
Early morning is the best time of day to set out on a winter hike. The temperatures are gradually pushed up by the rising sun, the views of the surrounding mountains become more stunning by the minute. Eight winter hiking trails offer something for everyone: the Empress Elisabeth trail takes us to the Gipperalm alpine pastures, while the Schareck summit trail begins at an altitude of over 2500 metres. In between there is the Heiligenblut circular trail, the snowy paradise of the Fallbichl, the circular trail to Apriach’s high-alpine pastures, and so much more.
