Mountain & Glacier Cableways in Heiligenblut am Grossglockner

Straight to the top with our excellent cableways

There’s nothing quite like standing on a summit and taking in the views – feeling on top of the world as you look out on the valley below. With our local mountain and glacier cableways, even the most reluctant mountaineers can have this experience. Floating up towards the skies in a cable car, you’ll find the views growing ever more breathtaking – as the panorama of the surrounding mountains opens up with every metre. At the top, you simply step out of the cable car, and dive straight into the stunning natural world of the Hohe Tauern National Park.

Summit trails and panoramic walks

From the high-alpine cable-car station, it’s only a short walk to the summit of Schareck mountain. It really is an incredible feat that we should be able to enjoy such a fantastic experience with so little physical exertion. At an altitude of 2600 meters, you have the most stunning views of the Grossglockner and up to 40 of its fellow 3000-metre peaks. The hike along the ‘Geotrail Tauernfenster’ path requires a little more effort, though this trail also starts out at the cableway station. As for the path leading to the Hochtor: this is an alpine hiking trail and therefore requires you to be reasonably sure-footed.
